A dental bridge acts as a partial, removable, replacement
for one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge is made up
of two crowns, one on each tooth on each side of the gap,
and one or more artificial teeth. The crowns on the teeth
are called abutment teeth and they hold the dental bridge
in place. Bridges are made from porcelain fused to
an underlying frame made of cast metal.
Just like regular dentures, dental bridges must be fitted to
the mouth of the person who will be using them. They must
be cleaned regularly and may eventually need to be replaced.
